Delta Epsilon Psi is a fraternity committed to service. As part of this commitment we have adopted a national philanthropy. The cause is Juvenile Diabetes. Every chapter takes on a different method to further this cause. For example, at the Founding Chapter in Austin, we host our annual Sugar-Free Bowl. This flag football tournament raises money for juvenile diabetes research.

The Founding Chapter of Delta Epsilon Psi, in conjunction with the Neighborhood Longhorns Program and about fifty student organizations from UT, hosts the largest single day of service at the University of Texas. PCT brings around 3,000 elementary school children from underprivileged Austin communities to campus to get a glimpse of college life and implant in them a desire to pursue a higher education. Along with organizations hosting booths, games and rides in Gregory Gym and on East Mall, Project Come Together truely unites all aspects of campus; from the museums, to the tower, to the athletics complex the event unifies volunteers, student groups, athletes, and faculty and staff.

Sugar-Free Bowl is an annual flag football tournament held to raise awareness for juvenile diabetes, which affects over 150 million people worldwide. All proceeds from the event benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which is striving to find a cure through innovative and targeted research. Inaugurated in the spring of 2001 by the Founding Chapter, Sugar-Free Bowl has now risen to new heights. Originally fielding 20 teams and awarding $500 in prizes, the tournament now hosts 36 of the best flag-football teams from the University of Texas as well as a few elite teams from the Austin community and awards $2500. In addition, this years Sugar Free Bowl achieved an unprecedented presentation of a $43,000 check to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, with key note addresses given by State Representative Solomon Ortiz, Jr. and Dr. Gregory Vincent, Vice President for Diversity and Community Affairs at UT. Experiencing incredible growth and being embraced by our wider fraternity, the event has now expanded to seven cities in Texas and to Florida and New Jersey.

Not to be limited by its marquee service events, the Founding Chapter constantly participates in other service events hosted by other organizations at UT and by other service groups around Austin helping to make a difference on campus and in our community.
